Beezy, The Artist, Goldengate Street Resident, Detroit 2011
Beezy is part of the Occupy Detroit movement. He and two friends moved into a small abandoned house near Woodward and Seven Mile Road after the police forced the movement to disband from Grand Circus Park. Their house sits on one of the most decimated blocks in the city. Fortunately for them, the only other neighbor on the street supplies them with electrical power via a 200 foot extension cord. This house still had a working toilet, so they fill the tank with rain water to flush it. Beezy draws about three to four hours a day and is an accomplished draftsman and tattoo artist. He has hundreds of drawings of which one is hanging on the wall behind him.
